The weight distribution of the course components is as follows:

  * 4 quizzes: 9% (3% each; best 3 out of 4)
  * <del>4 labs: 16% (4% each)</del>
  * <del>Labs are worth a total of 16%.  Lab 4 is optional.  If you complete lab 4, the labs are worth 4% each.  If you do not complete lab 4, the labs are worth 5 1/3% each.</del>
  * 4 labs: 16% (5 1/3% each; best 3 out of 4)
  * Midterm exam: 25%
  * Final exam: 50%
