- [Nov 10, 2008] A revised version of the Project, Phase3, has been posted.
- [Oct 31] RequirementsSpecsExample.{doc,pdf} provides a template for writing User Requirements and System Specification Documents. A small example is used to illustrate these two types of documents. The latest revision will be available in the course SVN. This document will help you understand the organization and level of detail needed for your Project (Phase2 and Phase3).
- [Oct 26] Project Phase3 details are now released. See also Specification of the dPost comand line user interface. Now is a good time to start on the implementation of the dPost command line code.
- [Oct 13] Exercise 2 in preparation for Quiz 2 is now available.
- [Oct. 12] Information needed for the Labtest has now been posted.
- [Oct. 5] A tentative description of the Phase 2 of the project has been released. Quiz2 will be on the various UML diagrams we have studied (Use Case, class diagrams & contracts, scenario diagrams, and statecharts). It will also be on Requirements Elicitation and Documentation that we have studied in the class and in the textbook.

(see same folder where slides are kept) is a sample Requirements Document to help you with Phase1. The Document was prepared using Latex (see the readme file; latex source provided), but you may use any document preparation system such as MS Office or Open Office, provided the result has a professional look as in the example. In thePapers
folder (see same folder where slides are kept) there are two papers by well-known companies that do Requirements Engineering with advice on how to write a Requirements Document. This is not required reading but you might find it useful. There is also a paper on the use of formal methods (mathematically precise specification methods) which is applicable to our use of Spin for specifications.
