CSE4351 Test 1 will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2009 11:30-13:00.

Test 1 will include: (a) Material covered in the lectures from the beginning of the term up to and including the lecture on Thursday April 2; (b) Material in the files RTT.1.pdf, RTT.2.pdf, RTT.3.pdf, in the course directory;

It is possible that Test 1 may include true/false questions, questions that require short answers, questions that may require the drawing of diagrams, questions that require slightly longer answers, and other possible question formats.

MAKE SURE YOU READ AND UNDERSTAND ALL THE MATERIAL IN THE SLIDES, AND THAT YOU ARE ABLE TO PROVIDE SOLUTIONS TO PROBLEMS SIMILAR TO THE PROBLEMS FOR WHICH SOLUTIONS HAVE BEEN DISCUSSED IN CLASS. IF YOU HAD MISSED A LECTURE, MAKE SURE YOU OBTAIN A COPY OF THE NOTES TAKEN IN CLASS FROM A CLASSMATE, AS TEST 1 MAY INCLUDE QUESTIONS THAT ARE SIMILAR TO THE PROBLEMS FOR WHICH SOLUTIONS HAVE BEEN DISCUSSED IN CLASS.

The CSE4351 Project has been posted in the course directory. The project due date is: Thursday, May 21, 2009.

The presentations for the topic studies will take place starting on Thursday, April 16, and in general will be scheduled according to the topic numbers. The reports for the topic studies and the PowerPoint slides for the presentations will be due on Tuesday, April 21, 2009, 11:30. You are required to hand in hard copies of the reports and PowerPoint slides, as well as submit them electronically into the /cs/course/4351/submit/topic1 directory using the “submit” command.

The topic study will be evaluated with 80% of the topic study mark based on the quality of the presentation, and the remaining 20% based on the topic study report. For the project, since there will not be enough time for project presentations due to the compressed term schedule , 100% of the project mark will be based on the project report.

For Topic Study 2, there will no in-class presentations. This has been made necessary because the last CSE4351 lecture will be on Tuesday May 19. The reports for the topic studies and the PowerPoint slides for the presentations will be due on Thursday, May 21, 2009, 11:30. You are required to hand in hard copies of the reports and PowerPoint slides, as well as submit them electronically into the /cs/course/4351/submit/topic2 directory using the “submit” command.

CSE4351 Test 2 will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 11:30-13:00.

Test 2 will include: (a) Material covered in the lectures from the beginning of the term up to and including the lecture on Thursday May 14; (b) Material in slides 1-22 of RTT.4.pdf, all the slides in RTT.5.pdf, RTT.5.1.pdf; ( c) Any material in the slides in RTT.3.pdf that the above material depend on.

It is possible that Test 2 may include true/false questions, questions that require short answers, questions that may require the drawing of diagrams, questions that require calculations, questions that require proofs of theorems, questions that require slightly longer answers, and other possible question formats.

A copy of the original paper in RTT.5.1.pdf will be appended to the Test 2 paper so that students do not need to memorize the information in RTT.5.1.pdf.
