The marks of the Final Exam and the overall letter grades are now on ePost (these grades are unofficial until approved by the Senate). The letter grades are based on the weighted sum of the three components: Midterm, Final, and Labs. The breakdown of the Labs component is posted under the 2021L course as before. If you suspect errors in your letter grade, take one of the following actions depending on the type of error: If you see an arithmetic error (i.e. the posted component marks do not add up to the posted letter grade) then email me. On the other hand if you suspect an error in the marking of your second test then wait until the test papers are in the Department Office (around the middle of Sept) and then request a copy of your exam from the Dept Office and, if needed, submit a petition to the Dept Office.

Additional office hours for this week: Wed August 3, 4:00-6:00 pm.
The final exam will be a closed book, 180-min test covering everything that was covered after the midterm; i.e. the five topics: floating-point, Verilog, single-cycle, pipelines, and caches. Bring a photo ID and optionally a calculator and an information sheet (one 8.5×11” sheet on which you can write or type on either side). Note that the MIPS Green Card, the SPIM system call table, and the CPU diagrams will be provided.

If you have attempted all 8 labs, then york marks for the labs = your best 7 lab marks + your best lab mark
If you have attempted 7 labs, then york marks for the labs = your marks for the 7 labs that you have done + your best lab mark

Due to the technical problem on last Monday, the lab session had to be cancelled. Thus, you'll be doing Lab-M next Monday (the 18th). The following Monday (July 25th), all 8 labs will be available so that if you have attempted the previous 7 labs and want to try Lab-N, you can work on it; if not, you can make up for any number of missed labs, possibly along with Lab-N. As for the adjusted marking scheme, I will take the best of your lab marks for your 8th lab mark (regardless of whether you have attempted only 7 or all 8 labs).

Drop date, i.e. the last day to drop the course, is approaching. If you need to drop this course, do it on or before July 5 (Tuesday).

The marks of midterm exam are now on ePost and the partial solutions / marking scheme are posted in the solutions folder (see Weekly Schedule for the latter). The papers will be returned in class tomorrow. See Policies for the procedure to follow in case there is a need to reappraise.

Additional office hours for this week: Wed June 15, 4:00-6:00 pm.
The midterm exam will be held in class (CB 115). It is a closed book, 90-min exam covering everything that was covered up to and including the lecture of June 9 (recall that we did not cover Lec-2(b), i.e. floating point representations and operations). Bring a photo ID and optionally a calculator. Note that the MIPS Green Card and the SPIM system call table will be provided. The exam will start at 7:00 pm sharp.

As discussed in class, there are some typos in lec-2 and lec-3 (it's assembly language!). You should be able to point them out and fix them.
No labs this Monday (May 23) as the University is closed.

Due to after-hours access restrictions, my office hours are now shifted to Thursdays 4-6 pm (before the class).
The labs start Monday, May 16 and continue every Monday (except for May 23) until July 25. Please note that PC terminal Jun46 is reserved for the TA's use.
The TA office hour is 6-7 pm on Mondays in CSEB 1006, i.e. just before the lab session and in the same PRISM Lab.
