Soft computing, unlike hard computing, is tolerant of imprecision, uncertainty and partial truth. This tolerance is exploited to achieve tractability, robustness and low solution cost. The principal constituents are fuzzy logic, neural networks, rough sets, evolutionary computing and probabilistic reasoning.
