This is an old revision of the document!

Academic Dishonesty

Policy on Assignments

  • You are encouraged to form study groups and collaborate to learn the course topics in general.
  • But ultimately, all assignments are individual work. You should not give/receive written code to/from other students.
  • We use MOSS to detect software plagiarism.
Any evidence of copying will be considered a breach of academic honesty and will be dealt with accordingly.
  • Late assignment submissions will not be accepted. There are no exceptions.
    • Rationale: you have several weeks to prepare. You should be able to submit at least partial work.

Missed Midterm Test

  • Contact the instructor immediately and submit acceptable documents (e.g., "Attending Physician's Statement" ).
  • The Midterm grade will be either zero or the Final Exam grade as decided by the instructor based on submitted documents.
  • Expectations:
    • Students are expected to be tested on all topics covered in the course.
    • The midterm covers one part, and the final exam covers mostly the remaining part with somewhat lesser emphasis on the material covered prior to the midterm.
    • You are trusted to do your best in your studies and carry out your fair share of responsibilities.

Missed Final Exam

  • Contact the instructor immediately and submit acceptable documents (e.g., "Attending Physician's Statement" ).
  • You may or may not be granted a deferred exam, as decided by the instructor based on submitted documents.
    • If not granted, you will get a zero for the exam. (You have the right to appeal.)
