 ====== Course Description ====== ====== Course Description ======
- +This course builds on the foundation in measurement techniques by developing the students’ understanding of the medical devicesThis course applies the classical knowledge of electronic circuits and systems techniques to the development of electrophysiological sensing systems and other basic medical devicesTopics include the design, operation and applications of Electrocradiography (ECG)Electroencephalography (EEG), Electromyography (EMG) and Electrooculography (EOG) techniques as well as respiratory and blood circulation measurement devices.In each topic, students will learn the related theoretical and practical issues from both engineering and medical perspectives with a focus on needs assessment, creativity, and innovation as they seek to identify market opportunities.
- Unlike a general-purpose computer, such as a personal computer, an embedded system is a special-purpose system in which the computer is completely encapsulated by the device it controlsThe embedded system design consists of hardware, software, analog microelectronics, sensors and actuators which are combined for a specific application ranging from communications, to transportation, avionic and to medical instrumentationStudents will gain in-depth technical competence in the various areas including the design of hardware/software for embedded systems, the design of analog interfacing system along with the selection of appropriate sensors and actuators.  +
