  * Dec 13: To give you more time to work on project2. The deadline for the project2 report is extended to Jan 5 (midnight). Note that this is a hard deadline and no further extension is possible.
  * Dec 13: Both BRG211 and LAS3033 have nice A/V equipments installed. No matter whether you use your own laptop, your USB drive or any online drive, please go there before 1:50 to make sure it works fine. We will start at 2pm SHARP. 
  * Dec 4: The locations for two project2 presentations have been booked: **BRG 211 for  Dec 13 from 2-5pm, LAS3033 for Dec 16 from 2-5pm**. 
  * Nov 18: Due to the high workload of assignment2/project2, the final exam has been canceled. Its weight has been re-distributed to A2/P1/P2 as [[:grades|here]]. Email me your assignment2 (in PDF only) by Dec 4th. 
  * Nov 18: The presentation schedule for Project2 has been finalized. Check [[:projects|here]] for your presentation date. Everyone must prepare a presentation of 12 mins to highlight your project + 3 mins for Q/A. Bad timing (too short or too long) will be penalized in your project marks. 
  * Nov 13: The last set of Lecture notes for "Graphical Models" are posted at [[:lecture_notes]]. The final exam is finalized as **2:00PM - 5:00PM, on December 4, 2019**, the location is **BRG 217**. 
  * Nov 11: For the Project2 presentation, if you prefer to present it on either Dec 13 or Dec 16, please let me know by this Friday (Nov 15). After that, I will randomly assign you to any free slot. 
  * Nov 6: The deadline for Project1 is further extended to **midnight Nov 10 (Sun)**. If you use projected gradient descent for SVM, you may refer to [[https://www.dropbox.com/s/irfulek4341hq5z/pgd4svm.png?dl=0|this]]. Note that I didn't show step 4 explicitly in my lecture note. 
  * Nov 2: Lecture notes for "Generative Models (II): Parameter Estimation" are posted at [[:lecture_notes]]
  * Oct 30: Upon requests from many of you, the deadline for Project1 is extended from Nov 3 to **Nov 6**. 
  * Oct 29: Lecture notes for "Generative Models (I): Bayes Decision Theory" are posted at [[:lecture_notes]].
  * Oct 25: Assignment two is posted [[:assignment]]. It is due on Dec 4th.
  * Oct 9: Upon requests, the project2 presentations are re-scheduled onto Dec 13 and 16, 2-5pm.
  * Oct 7: Some important dates regarding final exam/project2 are updated at [[:important_dates]]. The final exam is 2-5pm on Dec 4 and project2 presentations will take place at 2-5pm on Dec 16 and 17. Also some project titles from previous terms are posted [[:projects]] for you to select your own topic for project2.

  * Sep 23: Lecture notes for feature extraction are posted at [[:lecture_notes]]. "Matrix calculus formula" was updated in the lecture notes, please review them. Project one is posted [[:projects]].
  * Sep 13: Assignment one is posted [[:assignment]]. It is due in class on Oct 2. 
  * Sep 9: Lecture note for math review is posted at [[:lecture_notes]].
  * Sep 4: Lecture note for class one is posted at [[:lecture_notes]]. Note that the classroom for this course is changed to **CB122**.
