Project title:
A Survey on the State-of-the-Art Android Testing Tools and Techniques
Required Background:
General CSE408x prerequisites
Project Description:
Compare to the traditional software applications, there are some unique challenges when testing mobile apps. First, in addition to the inputs from the users, there are various embedded sensors (e.g., GPS, compass, etc.), which may constantly communicate with the app under test. Second, there are additional concerns (e.g., energy and privacy) to verify while testing such apps. Third, the process of error reporting and debugging on mobile apps are quite different from traditional software applications. The goal of this research project is to survey the existing start-of-the-art tools and techniques for testing and debugging Android-based mobile apps.
