====== Remote Desktop tips ====== ===== Set computer to automatically turn on computer after power failure - BIOS setting ===== For Dell desktop computers at York, you can go into the BIOS to enable a feature that automatically turns on the computer after a power failure: - Power the system On and press the **F2** key at the Dell logo to enter the BIOS. - Once in the BIOS, click the plus to the left of **Power Management** - Then **AC Recovery**, choose the box **Last State**. Click **Apply** at the bottom. Then **Exit**. ===== Change Windows 10 power settings to disable SLEEP ===== In Windows 10, click on **Start** -> type "Power" -> choose **Power & Sleep settings** -> under heading **Sleep**, click on drop down and choose **Never** -> then click on **Additional power settings** (another screen will pop up) Click on **Change plan settings** -> Confirm that **Put the computer to sleep** is set to **Never** (if not, change it to **Never**) -> then click on **Change advance power settings** (another screen will pop up) Advance settings: * Expand **Hard disk** -> Set **Turn off hard disk after** to **0** * Expand **Sleep** -> Set **Sleep after** to **0 Minutes** -> Set **Allow hybrid sleep** to **Off** -> Set **Hibernate after** (if available) to **0** * Click **Apply** -> then **Ok**
