-**Who Gets an Account?** \\
-The Prism Undergraduate Lab's main purpose is to support undergraduate EECS(Electrical Engineering and Computer Science major courses. Accounts are available for undergraduate students taking EECS major courses. This does not include the first year courses as well as service level courses. Some exceptions may apply . Please check with the monitor's office on the exceptions.

-**For How Long Do I Get an Account?**  \\
-Your account will remain on the Prism system for as long as you are registered in  EECS courses( primarily second,third and fourth year courses). If you are not registered in any EECS major course for a given term, your access to the Prism lab will be limited. This means that you will not be able to use a workstation in the Prism lab, nor will you be able to print to the main Prism printers. You may still access the lab remotely via  ssh, read e-mail, use the web server, print to the UIT pay-per-page printers, and all other tasks. If you register in an EECS major course, then you will automatically be given access to the Prism lab machines and printers for that term.

-**Important** If you do not register in an EECS course for 3 consecutive terms, then your account will be deleted.

-**Important** If you have never been registered in an EECS major course, you will not be allowed to create an account using our "activ8" system

-All accounts which are to be deleted will be notified via e-mail 2 weeks in advance of the account's deletion. Once an account has been deleted, all of the associated data, including the home directory and mail spool will have been erased and cannot be recovered.

-**What Does "Registered" Mean?** \\
-To be considered to be "registered" in a course, you must complete that course. In other words, you must be enrolled in that course past the final drop date for that course. Dropping the course before this date means that you are not considered to be registered in that course for that term.
