Getting Started with CAD
1. CMC
The majority of our software tools and a great deal of technical services and hardware is made available by CMC Microsystems (CMC for short, formerly the “Canadian Microelectronics Corporation”).
To get anything interesting done you need to get an account with CMC. After entering the basics (name, email, password, etc.) make sure to complete your account by finding and following the “Account Details” button wherein you identify your program and give your supervisor information. Even though you have a basic account, without these “details” you will not be able to access any of the key CMC tools.
2. CSE Account Setup
Email Jason Keltz (jas@cse.yorku.ca) about getting an account set-up on which you can run the CMC-brokered CAD tools.
3. CAD Activate
Once you have your CSE account make sure to validate it with CMC such that you can use the tools that you or your supervisor has paid for.
From the command line type:
/CMC/apps/CADactivate/cadactivate.sh
And follow the directions appearing in the ensuing pop-up window.
