Printer setup on Windows 7

Our printers are located on the first , second and third floors Printer access is classified by groups. So for example if you are an undergrad student, your access will be to the printers in the Eshrat Argomandi Lab (LAS 1006,1004). Admin printers are located in the admin area and graduate printing includes the second and third floor as well.

Instructions to add new EECS Network Printer:

  1. Connect to your EECS home directory (Start → Run → \\pcserver\homes → type in your EECS username and password and press Enter
  2. Download and run the printer port registry file (Choose Yes when asked to import file into registry). ports.reg.txt (rename file to 'ports.reg')
  3. Download printer driver and extract to temporary location. https://wiki.eecs.yorku.ca/dept/tdb/printers:printers:start
  4. Connect to shared printer (Start → Run → \\pcserver), double click the “Printer queue name” that you like to add from the list [https://wiki.eecs.yorku.ca/dept/tdb/printers:printers:start]
  5. Prompt will say that “No driver found”, press Ok → Have Disk → Choose temporary location that you extracted the printer drive in Step 3
  6. Choose the correct printer model from the list (based on the print queue). https://wiki.eecs.yorku.ca/dept/tdb/printers:printers:start
  7. Restart computer

Instructions to update driver for EECS Network Printer:

  1. Connect to your EECS home directory (Start → Run → Type \\pcserver\homes → type in your EECS username and password and press Enter)
  2. Download printer driver and extract to temporary location. https://wiki.eecs.yorku.ca/dept/tdb/printers:printers:start
  3. Start → type “Devices and Printer” then Enter
  4. Right click on Printer queue name (eg. prt2-col) → choose Printer Properties
  5. Click “Advance” tab → New Driver → Next → Have Disk → Choose temporary location that you extracted the printer drive in Step 2
  6. Choose the correct printer model from the list (based on the print queue). https://wiki.eecs.yorku.ca/dept/tdb/printers:printers:start
  7. Click “Finsh” → Ok
