Job Description

The student will support research at the Virtual Reality and Perception Laboratory. The laboratory studies issues related to visual perception in human-computer interaction and other man-machine interfaces. In particular the student will work on experiments related to cognitive and perceptual strategies for navigation in virtual environments.

The primary responsibility will be to develop experimental hardware and software for virtual reality experiments. The projects will require software design and development, system integration and experimental validation. The student will also be required to interface with experimental psychologists, physicists and engineers in order to develop software to support perceptual and imaging experiments and assist in the conduct of these experiments. These projects require and will help develop a range of software skills from low-level device interfacing to graphics and user interface design.

The successful student will work closely with two graduate students one in Computer Science and one in Psychology. Also the student will have regular weekly meetings with the supervisor as well as receive feedback through design meetings, code reviews and demonstrations

Qualifications

Experience in at least one of human computer interaction, machine interfacing and computer graphics is desirable. Students should be enrolled in CS, Engineering or a related discipline at the the second year level or higher.
