Set computer to automatically turn on computer after power failure - BIOS setting
For Dell desktop computers at York, you can go into the BIOS to enable a feature that automatically turns on the computer after a power failure:
- Power the system On and press the F2 key at the Dell logo to enter the BIOS.
- Once in the BIOS, click the plus to the left of Power Management
- Then AC Recovery, choose the box Last State. Click Apply at the bottom. Then Exit.
Change Windows 10 power settings to disable SLEEP
In Windows 10, click on Start → type “Power” → choose Power & Sleep settings → under heading Sleep, click on drop down and choose Never → then click on Additional power settings (another screen will pop up)
Click on Change plan settings → Confirm that Put the computer to sleep is set to Never (if not, change it to Never) → then click on Change advance power settings (another screen will pop up)
Advance settings:
- Expand Hard disk → Set Turn off hard disk after to 0
- Expand Sleep → Set Sleep after to 0 Minutes → Set Allow hybrid sleep to Off → Set Hibernate after (if available) to 0
- Click Apply → then Ok
