Set computer to automatically turn on computer after power failure - BIOS setting

For Dell desktop computers at York, you can go into the BIOS to enable a feature that automatically turns on the computer after a power failure:

  1. Power the system On and press the F2 key at the Dell logo to enter the BIOS.
  2. Once in the BIOS, click the plus to the left of Power Management
  3. Then AC Recovery, choose the box Last State. Click Apply at the bottom. Then Exit.

Change Windows 10 power settings to disable SLEEP

In Windows 10, click on Start → type “Power” → choose Power & Sleep settings → under heading Sleep, click on drop down and choose Never → then click on Additional power settings (another screen will pop up)

Click on Change plan settings → Confirm that Put the computer to sleep is set to Never (if not, change it to Never) → then click on Change advance power settings (another screen will pop up)

Advance settings:

  • Expand Hard disk → Set Turn off hard disk after to 0
  • Expand Sleep → Set Sleep after to 0 Minutes → Set Allow hybrid sleep to Off → Set Hibernate after (if available) to 0
  • Click Apply → then Ok
