RemoteLab Quick Start & FAQ
Quick Start
1. If you do not have a EECS account, please goto https://webapp.eecs.yorku.ca/activ8/ to create and activate your EECS account. You will require this account to access remote labs. After creating your account, please wait 20 minutes before logging into Remotelab.
2. Open your browser and go to https://remotelab.eecs.yorku.ca. Type in your EECS account info (Note: username is all lowercase).
(*IMPORTANT*: This account is different than your Passport York account).
3. Expand the computer lab and choose a computer.
FAQ
Q. I have activated my account using Activ8 website, I can login to Remotelab but I do not see any computers listed?
- You need to wait 20 minutes after successfully activating your account on active8 before you have full access to computers in RemoteLab.
Q. I have activated my account using active8 website and waited 20 minutes but I can't login to Remotelab?
- Make sure you type your username all in lowercase.
- Make sure you are using your EECS username and password and NOT your Passport York account.
Q. I have typed my password incorrectly too many times and now I see a blank page when trying to access the RemoteLab website.
- If you enter your password incorrectly 5 times in a row your IP will be blocked for 30 minutes. Please wait 30 minutes and try again.
Q. How do I download or upload a file in Remotelab?
- WINDOWS: On your keyboard press “Ctrl+Alt+Shift” (you should see a new window popup, look under the heading “Devices”, click on /eecs/home/(eecs_username) → It will show you all files in your EECS home directory:
- If you want to download a file, click on the file name
- If you want to upload a file, click on the button “Upload Files” and choose the file you would like to upload (the file will be uploaded to your EECS home directory)
- Once you are done with uploading/downloading a file, on your keyboard press “Ctrl+Alt+Shift” again
- MAC: On your keyboard press “Control+Command+Shift” (you should see a new window popup, look under the heading “Devices”, click on /eecs/home/(eecs_username) → It will show you all files in your EECS home directory:
- If you want to download a file, click on the file name
- If you want to upload a file, click on the button “Upload Files” and choose the file you would like to upload (the file will be uploaded to your EECS home directory)
- Once you are done with uploading/downloading a file, on your keyboard press “Control+Command+Shift” again
