Printer setup on Windows 10

Instructions to add new EECS Network Printer:

  1. Connect to your EECS home directory:
     Click Start -> Run -> type \\pcserver\homes -> 
    Enter EECS username/ password and press Enter 
  2. Run the printer port registry file located: (say yes to import registry)
     \\pcserver\research-download\eecs-prt-drivers\ports.reg
  3. Choose the correct printer model from the list (based on the print queue) and copy the Windows driver path.

  4. Connect to shared printer:
     Click Start -> Run -> 
    \\pcserver, double click the Printer queue name that you like to add (eg. prt2-col).
  5. Prompt will say that “No driver found”.
     Click OK -> Have Disk -> Paste the driver path from Step 3. Click OK.
  6. Choose the printer make and model and Click OK.
  7. Restart computer

Instructions to update driver for EECS Network Printer:

  1. Connect to your EECS home directory:
     Click Start -> Run -> \\pcserver\homes -> Enter EECS username/ password and press Enter 
  2. Run the printer port registry file located
     \\pcserver\research-download\eecs-prt-drivers\ports.reg
  3. Choose the correct printer model from the list (based on the print queue) and copy the driver path.

  4. Edit printer properties:
    Click Start -> type/choose "Printers and scanners" then Enter
    Click on Printer queue name (eg. prt2-col) -> Click "Manage" -> Click "Printer Properties"->
    Click "Advance" tab -> New Driver -> Next -> Have Disk -> 
    Paste the driver path from Step 3. Click OK. ->
    Choose the printer make and model and Click OK. 
  5. Restart computer
