Compute Server
The department provides a compute server, navy.cse.yorku.ca, which can be used by our faculty and graduate students for running compute intensive jobs. The compute server has 2 quad core Intel Xeon E5355 processors with 2 x 4 MB cache, 2.66 Ghz, 1333 Mhz FSB, and 4 gigabyte of memory. At the time of its purchase in March 2007, this was the fastest Intel dual processor solution available.
The compute server is a shared resource. Please ensure that your jobs do not make the system unusable by others. Please see the manual page for the nice(1) command to adjust the scheduling priority of your job. The tech team reserves the right to terminate jobs without notice if the system is unusable by others.
If your research requires specific compute intensive power please consult with the tech team.
As the department now has a compute server, please do not run compute intensive tasks on our time sharing server, indigo, or on any of our graduate lab workstations unless you are the person logged into the console.
